SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
- In this chapter we’re warned to listen when someone corrects us; if we don’t, it will be our downfall.
- We’re also reminded that a just ruler brings joy to their people, but a selfish leader people will grow to hate.
- The author several times tells us to keep our temper under control. This is an idea that is often talked about in the Bible, specifically in Proverbs. It’s easy to let our anger get out of control; instead, we should ask God for patience.
- There are a few verses about disciplining our children as well. It’s easier to not discipline our children because we love them but it’s not fair to a child. If discipline is done in love it shows a child that they’re loved and not ignored.
- There are quite a few verses about discipline in this chapter. Do you react appropriately when disciplined? Do you hand out discipline with the other person’s best interest at heart? Ask God to help you be humble when disciplined and to always act in love towards others.
