Questions: What To Do With Stress

We provide questions each week based on the topic of our service for our Verve Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called Emotions by talking about What To Do With Stress.
  1. This week we talked about stress. What is one "not such a big deal" pet peeve that stresses you out?
  2. How about something more serious: what’s got you feeling stressed or anxious lately?
  3. Vince said in the message that often things stress us out because we can’t control them. Is that true of what is making you anxious? Is it something you want to control but just can’t? Why?
  4. We are told, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7) and “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Then you will experience God’s peace” (Philippians 4:6-7).
    • What jumps out at you about these verses?
    • Have you had a time when you prayed instead of worrying and it gave you peace? Can you tell us about it?
  5. We learned this week that "If it's big enough to worry about, it's big enough to pray about," because "If it's on your mind, it's on God's heart."
    • How does it feel to know that God loves you so much he cares about everything you care about?
    • What would help you to bring everything to God?
  6. In the prayer we looked at in this week’s message, David shifted from talking to God about his anxiety to talking to his anxiety about God. Do you ever remind and reassure yourself of who God is and what God has done and what God will do? How do you think that might help you
  7. What could we be praying for each other this week?
