August 30 - Psalms 95 and 96

Today's reading in our daily plan is Psalms 95 & 96. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • Psalm 95 talks about how God created everything and is worthy of our worship.
  • In Psalm 96 we hear the same tone as the previous chapter but with a slight twist. In this chapter the writer is telling people they should praise God for he is above any other god; for every other god is simply a god created by man. The author goes on to say that God established every created thing and daily sustains it.

SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
  • Often when we read the Psalms we are faced with the majesty and supremacy of God; today is one of those days. With how busy our lives are, we often go through our day without taking time to reflect on his goodness.

NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)
  • Let’s take time today to sit and think over how great God is, then thank him for his sovereignty.
