No Barriers: Be the Branch

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Verve Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Group, feel free to use them on your own.
This week we continued the series called No Barriers and talked about Be the BranchIf you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. If you could start a charity, what would it be for?
  2. In the message this week, Vince mentioned two mistakes Christians often make. One mistake is settling for a relationship with Jesus, when what he wants with us is so much more. The other is living for Jesus but not really letting Jesus live through us.
    • How would you describe the difference between a normal relationship we have with a person and the kind of relationship Jesus wants to have with us?
    • How would you describe the difference between just living for Jesus versus letting Jesus live through you?
  3. John 15:5 in the New Testament of the Bible says, "I am the vine; You are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
    • What do you do personally to remain in God? How do you stay connected to him?
    • What would you say is the hardest part about staying connected to Jesus? Why?
  4. Do you focus on production over connection? On what you need to do rather than living a connected life? How do you see this happen in your life?
  5. Jesus said if we are a branch (we stay connected to and dependent on him), we will bear fruit.
    • Would you say you're a branch that's bearing fruit?
    • If so, what fruit are you bearing?
    • If not, what do you need to do to become a bearing fruit branch?
  6. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
