Shhh...It Happens: How to stay calm when it hits the fan: Grace Happens

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Verve Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Group, feel free to use them on your own.
This week we continued the series called Shhh. It Happens: How to stay calm when it hits the fan and talked about Grace HappensIf you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. When someone finds out what you do, or where you are from, what question do they always ask you?
  2. Romans 3:23 in the New Testament of the Bible says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
  3. What do you think is the best definition of sin?
  4. This verse says "all have sinned." Do you agree with that? Do you kinda think there are some people who are so good they just don't really sin?
  5. When we sin, the Bible says we are sinning against God. Why do you think sin is always against God?
  6. In the message this week, Vince explained that sin is not just legal (breaking the rules) but also relational (breaking God's heart).
    • How have you experienced sin being relational?
    • Why do you think it breaks God's heart when we sin?
  7. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
  8. Why do you think, after we have all sinned so much, God was willing to have Jesus die for us and offer us the gift of eternal life with him?
  9. One of the central teachings of the Bible is that you cannot be good enough for God and can only get into heaven by putting your faith in Jesus and surrendering your life to God.
    • Why do you think that is hard for a lot of people to accept?
    • Have you put your faith in Jesus as your Savior? If so, have you been baptized?
    • If so, what does it look like for you to surrender your life to God ... today? And tomorrow? What does surrender look like on a daily basis?
  10. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
