Shhh. It Happens: How to stay calm when it hits the fan: Stuff Happens

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Verve Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Group, feel free to use them on your own.
This week we started the series called Shhh. It Happens: How to stay calm when it hits the fan and talked about Stuff HappensIf you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What are your plans for Halloween? Do you celebrate or is it just another day?
  2. Romans 8:28 in the New Testament of the Bible says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him."
    • Would you share with us something bad that happened to you that ended up being for your good?
  3. We learned this week that the bad stuff that happens to us can be a consequence of our sin, but it's not a punishment for our sin.
    • Why do you think people tend to view bad things that happen in their lives as a punishment?
    • When bad things happen to you, do you tend to view them as a consequence or a punishment?
  4. Do you realize God is working in your life even when you don't know He's working?
    • When have you realized, later, that God was doing something in your life but when it was happening, you didn't know?
    • How can this help you next time bad stuff happens to you?
  5. We talked this week about the difference between good stuff happening TO you (a change of your circumstances) and good stuff happening IN you (grow in your character).
    • Why do you think people want and hope and pray for good things to happen to them instead of good things happening in them?
    • Why would you say good things happening in you is more important than good things happening to you?
  6. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
