Ezekiel 41

Today's reading in our daily plan is Ezekiel 41. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • In today's reading, Ezekiel continues his tour of the future temple, led by a mysterious man who is serving as his guide.
  • His guide gets to a part of the temple called the "Most Holy Place." When temples were built in Old Testament times, the Most Holy Place was a room that was designed only for high priests to enter. It was believed that the presence of God lived in the Most Holy Place. The priest would enter the Most Holy Place and talk to God on behalf of other people.
SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
  • Thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus, we no longer have to rely on a priest or "Most Holy Place" to talk to God. Through faith in Jesus, we all have equal access to God and can hear from him just as clearly as priests did back then.
NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)

  • Were you raised to feel like you weren't good enough for God, or in a church setting that required you to go to a priest because they were "closer to God" than you?
  • God invites all of us into a relationship with him. Part of a healthy relationship is communicating openly and transparently.
  • If there's something you've been holding back from God, talk to him about it today. Tell him how you really feel, and ask him to help you overcome any reluctance you have about connecting with him.
