Doubting, But Giving God The Benefit of the Doubt

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we started a new series called #VegasStrong and talked about "Doubting, But Giving God The Benefit of the Doubt". If you missed it, you can listen to it here.

  1. Where were you when you heard about last Sunday's tragedy?
  2. Did you have any friends or family who were at the concert?
  3. This week at Verve we talked about doubting God. When have you doubted God in your life? What were the circumstances?
  4. We also learned that it's important that we believe the truth about God. Can you think of a lie you used to believe about God?
  5. What are characteristics of God that can help you in times of doubt?
  6. The Bible says in Colossians 1:15, "[Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation..." and in Hebrews 1:3, "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being."
    • The key to knowing God is knowing Jesus. What is a way you can know Jesus better?
  7. Sometimes it seems like God doesn't know what he's doing, or isn't paying attention, but later we realize that he did know what he was doing, and proved himself trustworthy. Can you recall such a time in your life? Could you tell us about it?
  8. Why do you think it's so easy for us to question God when something tragic happens?
  9. Who do you know who needs to hear about the hope we can find in God in the midst of tragedy?
  10. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
