Numbers 28

Today's reading in our daily plan is Numbers 28. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • If you've been doing our reading plan on the weekends this year, you know that we've seen the different types of offerings God asked His people to make to Him several times.
  • This time, let's just think about one of the types of offerings. The monthly offerings (verses 11-15) were designed to be like celebratory parties. Earlier, God called them "times of rejoicing" (Numbers 10:10).

SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
  • Think about this: When God was helping His people figure out how to do life and establish their new society, He told them to party. He wanted them rejoicing. He commanded celebrations. What does that tell you about God? And what does it say about the kind of life you should be living?

NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)
  • Joy is a theme in the Bible. God wants us to celebrate. How are you doing in the joy department? The focus of our celebrations should be God, His goodness and His love for us. Do you find joy in God? Is this something you need to pray for? Do you need to ask some people to give you accountability on staying joyful?
