Verve Haps

2013 got off to a Ververiffic start this past weekend!
  • We began a brand new series called Bold As Love. In this series we're talking about how you can live your life in a way that is focused on a single, important mission, and how our church can empower you to live that out. The mission is to lead people to God, and we think that's the most important mission you could live for. There are 1.8 million people in Las Vegas who don't go to church -- that's 1.8 million people who are missing out on the more full and abundant life that God offers.
  • A big part of leading your friends to God is inviting them to church, and we want to make it easier for you to do that, so we announced three new initiatives that we're starting this year:
    1. Marketing Campaign -- Next month we are starting a new series called God For The Rest Of Us, and we're going all out to create conversation pieces that will create opportunities for you to talk to your friends about Verve and invite them to check it out. Starting next month you'll see billboards, t-shirts, postcards, and lots of other advertisements for our new series. The reality is that few people will come just because they see these promotional pieces, but a lot of people will come if you invite your friends to Verve and mention that your church is the one behind all of the billboards and postcards and t-shirts and bracelets and smoke signals.
    2. Online Services -- Starting next month we are going to start broadcasting weekend services at strategic times throughout the week. A lot of people in Las Vegas work weird hours, so we're going to offer online broadcasts of each weekend's service at strategic times, mostly during the wee hours of the morning.
    3. Block Parties! -- Las Vegas is a tough place to establish a sense of community with other people, so we're going to have a handful of Ververs host block parties in their neighborhoods. In addition to letting more people know about Verve, this will help the host family get to know their neighbors a little better.
  • Even with all of this, the most common reason people come to church is because a friend invites them. You have an amazing opportunity to lead your friends to a life-changing experience. Most people have to be invited to church 6 or 7 times before they agree to check it out, so don't give up! Make it a goal to get at least 2 or 3 of your friends to check out Verve this year. Not because it will help us look big, but because that means 2 or 3 more people will have a chance to take steps closer to God and find life in him.
  • We also announced another big initiative that will come into play later this year. If you weren't at Verve this weekend to hear it, make sure you're there this coming Sunday or Monday, when we'll give you the lowdown on a really exciting opportunity for you to impact people beyond Las Vegas. This is going to be a great year!
