SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
- This chapter is really straight forward. It’s a record of the lineage of Esau.
- However, did you notice that starting in verse 6 Esau moved his whole family, which was a lot of people (at least 4 recorded wives), closer to Jacob? Clearly, they had resolved their differences.
- Did you also notice that the two brothers couldn’t live right beside each other because their possessions were too great that the land could not sustain both of them? God really came through on his promise to bless them.
SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
- If you read the account of Jacob in the Bible you might at first think he had it really rough and maybe God wasn’t looking out for him. But reading these few verses in this chapter about the land not being able to support all the livestock then you know God blessed Jacob and his brother, Esau, immensely.
NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)
- Instead of looking at your hardships today take a moment and recognize all the things God has blessed you with.
