Psalms 94

Today's reading in our daily plan is Psalm 94. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • In Psalm 94 the writer talks about how God is the one who avenges us. This is such an awesome thought because it releases us from feeling like we have to defend ourselves. Instead, we can trust that God will avenge us. It frees us up to love others.
  • The author also talks about how God knows the thoughts of people and so we can’t hide anything from him. He wrote that even when he was anxious inside God consoled him. He was reminded that God is his protection and he needn’t fear anything.

SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)

  • We don't have to hold on to feelings of bitterness or resentment about things that are holding us back. If we are followers of Christ, He has taken on those worries for us.

NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)
  • Are you always anxious and worried about something? In our reading today we learned that God will protect us; so we don’t need to worry. It sounds overly simplistic to say that but it really is that simple.
  • Do you ever get consumed with revenge? If we will take the truth presented to us today, that God will avenge us, then we can release that anger. By releasing our anger toward others we are free to love. Anger is a prison that we trap ourselves in. Ask God to help you forgive and learn to love again.
