Proverbs 15

Today's reading in our daily plan is Proverbs 15. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)

  • There are a couple of verses in this chapter about how we talk. Have you noticed when you are in a disagreement with someone if you change your tone from anger to kindness or understanding it can defuse the tension? That’s the point the writer is talking about when he wrote, “a gentle answer turns away wrath.”
  • In this chapter, we also find a couple verses that talk about God being pleased with us trying to pursue the life he wants for us. The writer goes so far as to say that when we are living right our prayers please God.

SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)

  • Did you catch what verse 22 said? Have you ever had a big decision and not known what to do? According to this verse, we should seek the advice of wise people we know. Just like every chapter in the book of Proverbs this one is full of wisdom.

NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)

  • What verse spoke most to you? Did you see another common theme in this chapter other than what we talked about in points 1 and 2? What actions do you need to take today to apply what you learned?
