Proverbs 12

Today's reading in our daily plan is Proverbs 12. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)

  • In the first lines, we are told to lead a life of discipline because it leads to knowledge.
  • The writer also says that a wife who leads a pure life is like a crown to her husband. The opposite could be said for a husband to his wife as well.
  • We also read that we should watch our words because they can hurt others but the opposite is true as well; with our words we can build each other up.

SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)

  • In this chapter of Proverbs, we read that we should value discipline, integrity, righteousness, humility, and diligence.

NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)

  • Do you value the character traits that this chapter speaks of? Which one would you say you do well at? Which one could use a little work? Ask God to help you live the life he has planned for you. Go back and read verse 28 again as a little incentive to keep pressing forward.
