Psalms 36

Today's reading in our daily plan is Psalm 36. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • This Psalm opens talking about how wicked people set a course to reject God and be sinful.
  • Then the writer tells about how loving God is and how he’s always faithful.
  • The Psalm ends asking God to continue showing his love to those who follow him.

SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
  • This is a great Psalm. It talks about the faithfulness and love of God is poetic in ways. One of my favorite verses in it is verse seven; “Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.” This is one of the coolest things about God, he is no respecter of the social status of wealth of a person. God welcomes everyone and people from all walks of life find refuge in him. This is such a stark contrast to how the world around us operates. Instead God is always looking at what we are made of on the inside.

NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)
  • How does it make you feel reading verse seven? Isn’t that how we would want our God to act? Have you ever stopped to think that God looks at what is going on inside your heart just as much as what actions you are doing?
