Psalms 16 and 17

Today's reading in our daily plan is Psalms 16 & 17. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • Psalm 16 is of David praising God for being so trustworthy. David is loving that he serves a God he can trust with his life.
  • Psalm 17 certainly has a more desperate plea for protection.
SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
  • I love the Psalms because they are a window into the heart of the author. There are highs and lows. Let’s be honest, that’s how our lives are too. Our relationships with God is the same way, some days are great and others not so much. God welcomes our honesty. He makes it clear in the Bible, he prefers our brutal honesty - it makes for a more real relationship.
NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)
  • Are you real when you talk with God? Or do you try to “church” it up when you pray? How can you become more real with God?
