Fight Club: Phil Davis

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Verve Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Group, feel free to use them on your own.
This week we started the series called Fight Club and interviewed MMA fighter, Phil Davis. If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What do you think is maybe the funniest fight you've ever seen in your life? (Any kind of fight can count!)
  2. What do you view as one of the biggest fights of your life? Like...what is a struggle that has really challenged you and forced you to do battle?
  3. What has discouraged you in that battle?
  4. What has helped you experience some victory in that battle?
  5. This week we started a new series called Fight Club. We are talking about the battles that matter most. One of those important battles is that of faith. In what ways would you say having faith in God and living for God is kind of a battle?
  6. Read 1 Timothy 6:11-14.
  7. Paul, who wrote this, tells Timothy (a young pastor who had been mentored by Paul) to "Fight the good fight for the true faith." From this passage, what does it seem to "fight the good fight for the true faith"?
  8. Read 2 Timothy 4:5-8.
  9. Paul writes this at the end of his life, and tells Timothy, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful." Why do you think that might be the most important thing to be able to say at the end of your life?
  10. If that became your goal, what strategy should you create to accomplish it? (What kinds of things should you make sure you do to make sure you end your life having fought the good fight?)
  11. How can this group help you to fight the good fight and win in the battles that matter most?
  12. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
