July 13 - Daniel 10

Today's reading in our daily plan is Daniel 10. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • After experiencing sadness and grief for a few weeks, Daniel is overwhelmed by a vision of a man dressed in golden linen.
  • The man encourages Daniel in a big way. He repeatedly tells Daniel that Daniel is "very precious" to God.
  • As he hears more and more encouragement from the man in his vision, Daniel feels stronger and stronger.
SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
  • Daniel had been depressed for at least three weeks before he felt God speak to him clearly. When we're in the middle of sad or depressing circumstances, we need to remain steadfast in our commitment to God. Talking to him and reading the Bible are great ways to maintain this connection.
NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)

  • Have you been experiencing a dark time for weeks (or maybe a lot longer)? The way you're feeling is similar to how Daniel felt. Have an honest conversation with God about how you're feeling, and ask him to show you how he sees you.
