Dream to Destiny: Overcoming Success

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Verve Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Group, feel free to use them on your own.
This week we continued the series called Dream to Destiny and talked about Overcoming SuccessIf you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
  2. Is it difficult for you to give God credit for your spiritual gifts? Why or why not?
  3. Read Genesis 41:15 in the Old Testament of the Bible. How would you react if you were Joseph and it had been two whole years since he interpreted the cup bearer's dream and he just now remembered Joseph? Why would you respond that way?
  4. In Genesis 41:33, Joseph tells Pharaoh he needs to appoint someone in charge of all of Egypt to help them through the 7 years of plenty and 7 years of famine. In that moment, would you talk yourself up to Pharaoh hoping he would pick you if you were Joseph? Why or why not?
  5. Why do you think the presence of God was the key to Joseph's success of living out his destiny?
  6. Obedience is the key to having the presence of God in your life. How do you need to obey God today?
  7. Would you want your children (current if you have kids or hypothetical if you don't have any) to follow your rules because they want to adhere to the rules or do you want them to obey because they love you? Why?
  8. Do you love God so much that you want to obey what He asks you to do in your life no matter what it is? Why or why not?
  9. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
