May 26 - Ezekiel 45

Today's reading in our daily plan is Ezekiel 45. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • Yesterday's reading brought us incredibly specific instructions for priests. Today, Ezekiel's vision provides insights about very detailed temple measurements, including how different rooms should be laid out.
  • Near the end of the chapter, God gives his people instructions about a variety of ways they are to honor their commitment to him, including a celebration called Passover.
SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
  • Thankfully, because of the sacrifice of Jesus, we are not bound by the measurements or parameters set forth in this chapter.
  • However, one truth about our relationship with God is that it's better when we dedicate time and space to investing in it.
  • The early verses of this chapter mention instructions about setting aside a section of land to serve as "the Lord's holy portion." We should spend intentional time with God regularly, and we should do so in an environment that makes it easy to focus on him.
NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)

  • How could you "upgrade" the space where you most commonly read the Bible or talk to God? Maybe you could leave your phone in a different room to minimize distractions, or sit in a more comfortable spot so it's easier to spend more time with God.
  • Try new things to see how you can make your time with God the most enjoyable part of your day, and watch your faith grow as you invest more time in it.
