May 11 - Ezekiel 40

Today's reading in our daily plan is Ezekiel 40. Take a moment to pray, asking God to speak to you from this passage. Then read, using the following notes and questions to help you get everything out of the passage.

SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
  • Today's reading begins a set of chapters that go into extreme detail about plans for a new temple. Temples back then were similar to churches today: they were built to allow for a physical structure to honor God.
  • God gives Ezekiel a vision for this new temple. In this vision, a mysterious man gives Ezekiel a tour of the future temple. It is huge! It features an abundance of rooms across a sprawling estate.
SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
  • The closer we grow to God, the clearer we are able to see the vision for our future. We should constantly ask God to grant us more clarity about the next steps he wants us to take.
NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)

  • What decision are you facing? What long-term goal have you been pursuing?
  • Take time to talk to God about these plans, and ask him to give you an extremely clear vision for what you need to do next -- even if it means making big changes to what you thought you were going to do.
