Dream to Destiny: Overcoming a Dysfunctional Family

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Verve Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Group, feel free to use them on your own.
This week we started the series called Dream to Destiny and talked about Overcoming a Dysfunctional FamilyIf you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What's something in your house you want to get rid of but can't (Please no naming a spouse or child!)
  2. Tell us a dream you currently have. How long has this been a dream of yours?
  3. In what way was your family growing up kind of dysfunctional?
  4. We learned this weekend that Joseph grew up in a very dysfunctional family (13 kids from 4 different mothers, fighting, jealousy, favoritism). How does it make you feel to hear the a hero of the faith had such a messy childhood?
  5. How could focusing on your past hinder you from moving forward towards your destiny?
  6. Vince mentioned that Joseph had to wait 17 years from when he had his dream to when it finally became his destiny. Does that help you to not give up on a dream you have? Why or why not?
  7. Vince guessed that God had Joseph wait 17 years because he had growing to do before he was ready to have his dream become reality.
    • What growing might you need to do before you're ready to really step into your destiny?
    • Is there anything from your past you may still need to heal from?
    • Is there any character quality God may still need to grow in you?
  8. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
