Chain Breaker: But I Can't Forgive Myself

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Verve Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Group, feel free to use them on your own.
This week we finished the series called Chain Breaker and talked about "But I Can't Forgive Myself". If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. If you were forced to give up one of your senses, which one would you choose: feeling, hearing, smelling, seeing or tasting? Why?
  2. Is it difficult for you to forgive yourself for something you did? Why or why not?
  3. Do you equate forgiveness with feelings? Explain why or why not.
  4. What type of guilt do you tend to struggle with the most? (false, God-inspired or phantom) Why?
  5. Read 1 John 1:9 in the New Testament of the Bible. What makes it so hard to believe God forgives your sins?
  6. Read 1 John 3:1. We are called children of God. How does this title help you with forgiving yourself?
  7. How does knowing God forgave you already help you forgive yourself?
  8. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
