Football Weekend

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we had football weekend at Verve and talked about TRANSFORMATION. If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What is your favorite sport? What do you like about it?
  2. The Bible says in Romans 12:2, "let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."
    • Because God loves us his goal for each of us is transformation. Why do you think God wants to help us to change?
    • This verse says God changes us by changing the way we think. Where in your life do you see a need for new thinking?
    • God wants us to experience His will for our lives, which is "good and pleasing and perfect." When, or in what way, have you experienced God's will and found it to be good and pleasing and perfect?
  3. In the message we heard about Verve's 1-2-3 "strategy" for growth and transformation: (1) One God I stay connected to, (2) Two communities at church I'm connected to, (3) Three people who don't go to church who I'm connected to. Why is this so important? Because transformation doesn't happen in isolation. It happens through connection.
    • What are some of the ways a person can stay connected to God?
    • What is your favorite way to connect with God?
    • What is one way you could connect with God more than you are?
  4. Ephesians 4 is all about the church, and it says that in the context of living in the community of the church we can "attain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" (4:13) and that we can "growing in every way more and more like Christ" (4:15) and that each person "helps the other parts grow" (4:16).
    • The two communities we need to have at church are a group and a team. A group we meet with for friendship and to grow closer to God together, and a team we serve together with.
    • God stresses both kinds of communities in the Bible. Why do you think God views both as so important?
    • Which of those two community connections do you need to grow in more at this point in your life?
  5. Weekly Check In Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
