His Presence - From With Us To In Us

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our new series called Ghost Stories and talked about "His Presence - From With Us To In Us". If you missed it, you can listen to it here.

  1. What is a way you always wish you were beyond ordinary? Like maybe some special talent you wish you had?
  2. The Holy Spirit is God with us. After Jesus died the Holy Spirit came. When the Holy Spirit came, God went from being for us, and maybe even with us, to IN us.
    • Why do you think it's so important that God be in us?
  3. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:16, "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you."
    • If we invite God into our lives, He literally comes into us through the Holy Spirit.
    • In the Old Testament times, the place where God dwelled was considered incredibly special. Now WE are the place where God dwells. What are the implications of that? What should it mean to you that God lives inside you?
  4. One of the names the Holy Spirit is called is our "advocate." He represents us and fights for us. How does it make you feel that you have the Holy Spirit as an advocate?
  5. Jesus said, in John 16:5-7, "But now I am going away to the one who sent me, and not one of you is asking where I am going. Instead, you grieve because of what I've told you. But in fact, it is better for you that I go away, because if I don't, the Advocate won't come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you."
    • Jesus said that it's better for us to have the Holy Spirit (in us) than to have Him (with us). Why do you think that may be true?
  6. In the sermon Vince said, responding to people who say living as a Christian is difficult, "The Christian life isn't difficult; it's impossible. The Christian life is impossible without the Holy Spirit."
    • Would you agree or disagree with this statement? Why?
  7. Weekly Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
