Questions: From Theist to Jesus

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called 4 Steps to Jesus and talked about "From Theist to Jesus". If you missed it, you can listen to it here.

  1. If you are a Christian, what's the thing that finally convinced you to put your faith in Jesus and get baptized?
  2. If you haven't yet put your faith in Jesus, what's the main thing holding you back from doing that and getting baptized?
  3. Jesus said:
    • "If you've seen me, you have seen God" (John 14:9).
    • "I and the Father are One" (John 10:30).
    • "Whoever believes in Me will not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 11:26).
    • God did not send Me to condemn the world, but to save it" (John 3:17).
  4. Is there anything that makes it hard for you to believe all of that is true?
  5. Vince said in the message this weekend, "Everything rises and falls on the resurrection." The Bible says that. Read 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 and 1 Corinthians 15:14.
  6. Why would you say the resurrection is the core belief and critical factor in Christianity?
  7. Read 1 Corinthians 15:5-8
  8. Paul (the author of 1 Corinthians) explains that there were eyewitnesses still alive at the time, who saw Jesus resurrected from the dead. How does that help you believe the resurrection really happened?
  9. Another "proof" for the resurrection is that the disciples, the people who proclaimed it happened, all were willing to do, and did die, for their claim that Jesus rose from the dead. Why should that help us believe?
  10. Next week is Easter: We are doing baptisms at Verve. Baptism is the next step for a person who believes in Jesus. Jesus Himself said, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mark 16:16). If you've never been baptized, is there anything keeping you from being baptized on Easter? (If you want to get baptized, email to let them know that you'd like to be baptized and which service you'll be planning on doing it.)
  11. Next week is Easter: Easter is one of the best times to invite people to church. Who will you invite to church this week?
  12. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
