Questions: From Deist to Theist

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called 4 Steps To Jesus and talked about "From Deist to Theist". If you missed it, you can listen to it here.

  1. What is your earliest memory of learning something about God, or wondering about God?
  2. Vince shared in this week's sermon how the major world religions contradict each other in many ways, including many critical ways. Despite this, people continue to say, "all roads lead to the same God." Why do you think people want to believe that, even though it obviously can't be true?
  3. Read Isaiah 45:18-19
  4. God asks people to seek Him and says He wants to be known. What does this tell you about God?
  5. Read Acts 17:24-28
  6. How can you encourage people (who might not believe) that God is closer than they think and to seek Him so they can know Him?
  7. Vince talked about how the Bible was written by 40 different people from 15 different centuries and 3 different continents, yet has one unified theme. How does that help lead you to the conclusion that guided the Bible writers?
  8. We learned this week that we can believe the Bible because of all the evidence for it. For instance, we have over 20,000 ancient handwritten copies of the New Testament. That means we can compare them to make sure that what we have today is an accurate transmission of what was originally written. Why should that inspire even more confidence in the accuracy of the Bible?
  9. In what ways has the Bible changed your life?
  10. Easter is coming soon! Who are you inviting to come to Easter at Verve???
  11. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
