Questions: From Agnostic to Deist

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called 4 Steps to Jesus and talked about "From Agnostic to Deist" If you missed it, you can listen to it here.

  1. An agnostic is someone who is certain they don't know. What's something you're certain you don't know about. Maybe something that other people know a lot about, but you know little to nothing about?
  2. This week we talked about taking the step from being an agnostic (feeling like the existence of God is unknowable) to being a dest (concluding that our universe having a designer is probable). What do you think are some good reasons for a person moving from agnostic to deist?
  3. Read Romans 1:20
  4. In what ways do you think seeing the earth and sky make God's eternal power and divine nature clear?
  5. What would you say is something we learn about God through nature?
  6. Read Psalm 19:1-4
  7. What do you think the vastness of the universe says about God?
  8. Have you had a time when seeing something amazing in nature led you to a sense of awe? What was it?
  9. In this week's message we heard about the incredible intricacies of DNA and cells. Does learning about the intricacies of life lead you to more appreciation for God and more of a desire to worship Him? If so, why, and how so?
  10. Do you ever go out to pray or sing worship songs to God in nature? If so, what is that like for you? If not, how might it help you to have less distractions and feel more connected to God?
  11. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
