Questions: Finding Dory

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called I Want A Movie Life and talked about "Finding Dory" If you missed it, you can listen to it here.

  1. What its your favorite animated movie of all time? Why do you like it?
  2. In the message, Vince talked about our human tendency to "forget" about God. That it can be easy to drift away from Him, or to ignore what He's doing in our lives, or to forget what He's done.
    • How do you see this happening in your life?
    • When is a time when you really wandered away from God or ignored God? What led to it?
    • Can you think of a way God has proven Himself to you, but you still struggle with faith in that area?
  3. God says, in Isaiah 65:1-2a, “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me.  To a nation that did not call on my Name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’  All day long I have held out my hand…”
  4. The idea is that God wants to be found, and tries to make Himself "findable," even by people who aren't really looking for Him. Why do you think that's true of God?
  5. Vince shared some of the "clues" God leaves us to lead us to Him, like: Nature, art, the longing we have for more, the testimonies of changed lives, the Bible, and Christian community. Which of those is a "clue" that works in your life; that gets your attention and draws your attention back to God?
  6. God promises us in Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you."
    • On a scale of 1-10, how true would you say it is of you that you're seeking God "with all your heart"?
    • On a scale of 1-10, how true would you say it is of you that you've become content with the amount that you know about God and are experiencing of God?
    • If you were to start really seeking God, more of God, with all your heart, what is something you would start doing (or start doing more of)?
      • Will you do it?
  7. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
