Questions: Grace > Stuck

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called Grace > and talked about "Grace > Stuck" If you missed it, you can listen to it here.

  1. Do you have a time when you were or felt stuck, either literally or metaphorically? Can you tell us about it?
  2. Read Titus 2:11-14
  3. Titus 2:11 says God's grace has "appeared" and offers salvation to "all people." Some people believe that God is only for the good people, but grace is what bad people need, and God offers it to everyone.
    • Do you feel like God's grace is available for you?
    • Are there any people you feel like are beyond God's grace? What could help you to stop feeling that way?
    • How can you do better at letting others know that God's grace is for them?
  4. Titus 2:11 also says that God's grace "offers salvation". Because of God's grace we can be saved from our sins. That's why grace is what bad people need.
    • How has receiving salvation changed your life?
    • If you haven't yet said yes to God's offer to save you, what is holding you back?
  5. Titus 2:12 says that God's grace "teaches us to say 'no' to ungodliness and to worldly passions."
    • A lot of people think that it should be God's wrath (his anger towards sin and punishment of sin) that leads us to not sin. But this verse says no, it's God's grace (his unconditional love and offer to forgive sin) that leads us to not sin. Why do you think it's God's grace, not God's wrath, that leads us to say no to sin?
    • How has God's love and grace made you not want to sin?
    • If you've to not sin based on fear of God's disapproval and wrath, how might focusing more on gratitude for God's love and forgiveness be a better motivation for you to stop sinning?
  6. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
