Questions: Grace > Mistakes

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called Grace > and talked about "Grace > Mistakes" If you missed it, you can listen to it here.

  1. What is your favorite, or least favorite word? Why?
  2. Grace means to get the opposite of what you deserve. Because of our sin we deserve condemnation and punishment from God, but through grace He offers us forgiveness and love and relationship and blessing.
  3. The Bible says we've all sinned (see Romans 3:23) and that the what we deserve for our sin is death (see Romans 6:23). Death is not just physical, it's also that our connection to God dies because of our sin.
    • Why do you think this is the proper consequence for sinning?
  4. The Bible says, "For ... sin ... brought death to many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through ... Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:15).
    • Do you believe that God's grace and forgiveness is greater than your worst sin?
    • Do you live like it? What might be some signs that you do, or don't?
  5. In the next verse the Bible says, "And the result of God's gracious gift is ... our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins" (Romans 5:16)
    • If you've said yes to his grace, you were made right with God. What do you think it really means to be made right with God? How should it impact your daily life?
  6. The next verse says, "But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through ... Jesus Christ."
    • Would you (honestly) say you're living "in triumph over sin" because of God's grace and through Jesus? To whatever degree you're not, why do you think you're not?
  7. The Bible also says, in Hebrews 12:15, "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God."
    • Why is it so important that no one miss out on God's grace?
    • What can you do to help "see to it that no one falls short of the grace of God"?
  8. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
