Questions: The Cost Of Not Resting

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called The Cost Of Not and talked about "The Cost Of Not Resting" If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What are some of the factors that lead you to live a hurried, busy life?
  2. In the message, Vince said, "You can't love God, and you can't love people, in a hurry."
    • In what ways do you think that's true?
    • In what ways have you personally found it challenging to love God and/or people because you're too busy?
  3. Jesus had thousands of people who wanted things from Him, but He never hurried. What do you think it was about Him that allowed Him to live at a slow pace?
  4. In the message we learned about margin - the "extra space" between what we can do and we do do. We also talked about the cost of not having margin. When we do everything we can do, work all the hours we can work, spend all the money we have, there is a cost to that.
    • One cost is that we get stressed out. How have you experienced the stress of living a margin-less life?
    • Another cost is that it hurts our relationships. How have you experienced relational stress  because of living a margin-less life?
  5. God's answer for a margin-less life is called sabbath. Sabbath is building rest into the rhythm of our lives. One key component is taking one day a week to not work and instead do the kind of things that recharge us.
    • What would you need to do to better practice Sabbath as God commands it?
  6. Accountability Question:  How have you allowed God to show you where you can generously invest your time, talent, and treasure into His Kingdom?
  7. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
