Questions: Judgment And Rewards In Heaven

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called Imagine Heaven: Rumors From Beyond The Grave and talked about "Judgment And Reward In Heaven" If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. When have you been punished for rewarded for something you did? How did it feel?
  2. The Bible says one day we will have a "life review." How does it feel to know that God will love at how you lived your life for Him?
  3. Read 1 Corinthians 4:5
  4. How does knowing that everything we've done, and even all our motives, will someday be revealed before God impact the way you want to live your life?
  5. The "life review" will not only be about judgment, but also reward. Read Matthew 6:1-6
  6. Why do you think someone would lose their reward if their motive was to impress other people?
  7. The Bible seems to indicate that there there will be two judgments. The first judgment determines who does and who doesn't get into Heaven. No one will get into Heaven because they were good people. There's only one way in. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."
    • Have you said yes to God's offer to save you through putting your faith in Jesus?
  8. Read 2 Corinthians 5:10
  9. The second judgment is for Christians, and it is an assigning of rewards for what we did in this life. How does it make you feel to know you will be rewarded for your good deeds?
  10. If how you live in this life will impact your experience of Heaven for all eternity; how should you live?
    • What should be your focus and priorities?
    • What changes do you need to make?
  11. Accountability Question:  How have you been inviting God into all your decisions?
  12. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
