Your Prayerpalooza Prayer List

At 6:30 tonight, Verve is hosting a one-hour event focused on praying for our church's new season of four weekend services. After the event, we are encouraging Ververs to commit to pray for Verve for one hour between 8:00pm tonight and 8:00pm tomorrow night.

If you signed up to pray for a specific hour in our 24 straight hours of prayer, thank you! Below you’ll find a list of things you can pray for during your hour.

If you did not sign up to pray for an hour of Prayerpalooza, you can still pray! You could pray during the 24-hour period (8:00pm Friday to 8:00pm Saturday), for an hour, or even for five minutes.

God wants you to pray from your heart, so don’t feel restricted by this list, but feel free to use it if it helps. Thanks for praying – you’re playing a big part in changing lives and turning the world upside-down!
  1. Take some time to praise God for who He is. Some people like to use the Bible’s Psalms (songs and poems in the Bible) as part of praising Him. If you’d like to try that, read Psalm 145 and/or 146, as if they were your own heartfelt words, to God.
  2. You may also want to take a little time to confess sins to God. If there is something that has made you feel guilty, something you haven’t talked to God about, it can be a hindrance to praying. So confess those sins to God, knowing that if you have put your faith in Jesus, He has forgiven those sins. The Bible says in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
  3. Pray that God will be glorified in and through Verve.
  4. Pray that we will "lift" Jesus up and people will be drawn to Him (John 12:32).
  5. Pray that Ververs will build relationships with people who are far from God and help them to experience His love.
  6. Pray that Ververs will invite their friends to come and meet Jesus at Verve, especially now.
  7. Pray for the three billboards we have around town this week, that people will see them, go to our website, and decide to check Verve out.
  8. Pray for our radio ads being played this week, that the people who need to hear them will, and that they will be intrigued and decide to come to a Verve service.
  9. Pray for the Facebook ads we have this week, that people who are doing their normal thing on Facebook will see the ad and stop, click on the ad, end up at the Verve website and eventually at Verve.
  10. Pray for the postcards that have been landing in people’s mailboxes this week. In addition to our slogans and a funny top ten list, they tell people about our next two series. Pray that people will feel drawn and will show up at a Verve service in the next week or two.
  11. Pray for the first impressions new people have when they show up at Verve. Pray that from their experience finding our building and parking, to walking in and hearing music and seeing friendly people, that it will help them to feel comfortable.
  12. Pray for our “5 Easy Ways To Wreck Your Life” series that starts this weekend. Pray that as we study through the Bible book of Ecclesiastes (which is King Solomon’s journal) people will see the paths in life that will wreck them, and instead choose God’s path.
  13. Pray for our next series, “Imagine Heaven,” which starts on Easter, and we think will be very intriguing for new unchurched visitors. Pray that new people are drawn to Verve, and keep coming back, by this series.
  14. We design the first minutes of our adult service to uncross the arms of cynical people and help them become open to the message of Jesus. Pray that the openings of the next two series do exactly that for the many new people we’re praying will show up.
  15. Once a month we offer “Happy Hour” – a fun event after our services where new people can learn a little more about Verve and how they can get connected. Pray that all the new people who show up in the next months make the decision to go to Happy Hour.
  16. Next month we’ll be offering our Verge course, which is designed for people who are new to faith (or coming back to faith after time away) to help them to start and understand how to grow in a relationship with God. Pray that we’ll have more people than ever take Verge, and that it will be incredibly effective in helping them take important next steps in their spiritual journey.
  17. Pray for our Children's Ministry, that kids who attend would leave begging their parents to bring them back, and that it will raise up kids who truly love God and people.
  18. Pray for our Student Ministry, that it will help teens to have their own faith and a growing love for God and His Kingdom.
  19. Pray for our Micro Groups, that they will help people get connected in loving supportive friendships that will help them grow together to become more like Jesus
  20. Pray for a culture of volunteerism to grow at Verve. For a church to reach its full potential, every person must play their part. We need everyone to find a volunteer role they can serve in!
  21. Pray for our church staff, that they will stay close to God, focused on Jesus, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to make wise decisions and lead our church in a way that honors God and leads people into growing relationships with Jesus.
  22. Pray for Jacob Sanders, Verve’s Operations Director.
  23. Pray for Amy Boles, Verve’s Next Gen Pastor.
  24. Pray for Jake Keck, Verve’s Creative Arts Pastor.
  25. Pray for Ryan Lunceford, Verve’s Executive Pastor.
  26. Pray for Vince Antonucci, Verve’s Lead Pastor.
  27. Pray for our volunteer leaders at Verve.
  28. Pray for leaders to develop at Verve. A church needs (non-staff) people to step up into leadership in various ministries, and we need to develop great spiritual leaders at Verve.
  29. Pray for our church finances. "Doing" church is not cheap, and without sufficient funding we cannot do what God has called us to do. Pray that Verve will have increasingly generous people who give to the mission God has called us to.
  30. You might want to end your prayer time by asking God if He has anything He wants to say to you. Then be silent and try to listen for God’s whisper.
