Questions: Mad Max

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued our series called I Want A Movie Life and talked about "Max Max" If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
  2. What's a situation (or two) in your life that's not ideal?
  3. In the Max Max movie the people believe there's a "Green Place" where all their problems would be solved. What do you assume would make your life better? A different job, different friends, a different marriage, moving away from Vegas, having kids, not having kids, a new home?
  4. God tells us in the Bible to be content with what we have. Why do you think us being content is a big deal to God?
  5. The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:11-13, "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all things through him who gives me strength."
    • How do you think Paul developed this ability to be content in any circumstances?
    • Paul says he learned a "secret" then says, "I can do all things through him who gives me strength." How do you think God helped him to be content?
    • How could God help you to be content? What do you need to do to make that possible?
  6. In the Old Testament God tells His people that instead of putting their hope elsewhere, they should become hope where they were. How could you become hope where you are?
    • At your workplace?
    • In your home?
    • In Las Vegas?
  7. Accountability Question: How have you allowed God to love you just the way you are, and how have you allowed Him to show you where He loves you too much to leave you that way?
  8. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
