Questions: Weather The Storm

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we continued in our series Summer By The Lake and talked about "Weather The Storm" If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What is your greatest fear?
  2. Read Mark 4:35-41.  Reflect on your life for a moment.  How do you typically handle personal storms?
  3. Jeff said that sometimes following Jesus - doing the right thing - can put you in a storm.  How does that statement make you feel?
  4. Jeff suggested that Jesus wasn't asleep on the boat because of a lack of concern, but because of a lack of request.  Do you typically go to God for help at the first sign of a storm, or do you try to fix it yourself?
  5. Read James 1:2-4.  Jeff said that not only do we all experience storms, but we all need them.  Why do we need storms in our lives?
  6. Share about a storm you've endured in the past.  How did you see Jesus' presence and purpose in the midst of the storm?
  7. What is a current storm you are facing?  What purposes do you think God might be trying to accomplish through it?
  8. What's one step you can take to overcome your fears and turn your attention to God?
  9. Accountability Question:  How have you passionately pursued meaningful time with God?
  10. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
