Verve Haps

What a great time to be part of Verve!!

  • Every year we see a ton of people visit Verve for the first time during the weekend immediately following the Super Bowl, and this past Sunday and Monday was no exception. It's awesome to  see new faces and help them figure out how they can become more connected to Verve and to God.
  • We kicked off a new series called Drop the F-Bomb. This series is all about forgiveness and why it's important (albeit very difficult) to forgive people who have wronged us. Among other things, this week we talked about how a lot of our inability to forgive stems from thinking about what could or should have been. To forgive means to come to terms with the fact that, however bad it may have been, the past we ended up with is the only past we have. That can't change. (There was also a story involving Circuit City, Snoop Dogg, and vulgarity. If you weren't at Verve, you missed out, but you can still listen to the message online.)
  • This past Saturday we had our first-ever orientation for Ververs interested in doing more to help  our church show love to the community. Recently we've ramped up our efforts to make a bigger impact in Las Vegas and beyond, and a few weeks ago we gave people the chance to sign up to be part of what we're calling our Compassion Team. We're excited about this strong foundation that's coming together because it means we will be able ambush our community with even more of God's love.
  • This coming Sunday night, February 16th, our students are throwing down with an epic Laser Tag Party. It's happening at King Putt from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. (!) (But don't worry -- there's no school on Monday.) If you're a middle or high school student, make sure you're there (and make sure you invite a friend or twelve!)
