Questions: The Giveitude of Worship

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we were in our series Givitudes and talked about The Giveitude of Worship. If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What is the best gift you've ever been given? What made it great?
  2. Read Philippians 4:18
  3. Worship is to make a statement about the worth of something to you by sacrificing something you care about more. What do you think about that definition of worship?
  4. If that's true, where in your life are you worshipping God?
  5. The Bible says, in 1 Peter 2:5, that Christians are to be "offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God." Why do you think this is so? Why must Christians offer sacrifices to God?
  6. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 16:16-17, "No one should appear before the Lord empty-handed. Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you." Why do you think it's true that Christians must bring an offering? And what does it say about us if we don't?
  7. The Bible says in 2 Samuel 24:24, "I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing." So to truly be worship, our offering must cost us something. It must hurt. Why do you think this is true? Are you giving enough to God that you really feel it, that it hurts?
  8. God says in Malachi 3:8-9 that if we don't tithe (give God ten percent of our income) we are stealing from Him. Why do you think God considers it stealing if we don't tithe?
  9. Vince said our attitude about giving should be, "Love made me do it." How can you make sure you don't give begrudgingly or out of obligation, but instead are motivated by love?
  10. Jesus gave His life on a cross for you. How can thinking about His love and sacrifice increase the drive of love in your life to give back to Him?
  11. Accountability Question:  How have I passionately pursued meaningful time with God?
  12. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
