Questions: The Giveitude of Faith

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we were in our series Givitudes and talked about The Giveitude of Faith. If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. When is a time when you felt like you really had to put your faith into practice?
  2. Read Philippians 4:19-20
  3. God promises that he will, according to his riches, meet our needs to overflowing. What can cause you to doubt this promise?
  4. Have you ever experienced this promise in your life?
  5. We learned in the sermon this week that this is a conditional promise. God promises to abundantly meet our needs IF we give to him consistently, generously and sacrificially (as the Philippians did). Why do you think God puts a condition on this promise?
  6. Read 2 Corinthians 8:2-7
  7. We learn in this passage that the Philippians gave (actually begged to give) beyond their ability, out of their poverty. What do you think led them to give in this way? What excuses and doubts could they have used not to give?
  8. What excuses and doubts tempt you not to give generously?
  9. We can give by sight ("What do I have? What can I afford?") or by faith ("What has God asked me to give?" "What can He do in my life?"). If you had to convince a new Christian to give by faith, what would you tell them?
  10. In the message we heard about Hebrews 11, the Bible's "Hall of Fame." Every person recognized had to risk something big for God. What would you be willing to risk to put a smile on God's face and be the kind of person he'd put in his Hall of Fame?
  11. Accountability Question:  How have you been inviting God into all your decisions?
  12. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
