Questions: Always

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we were in our Christmas series and talked about Broken. If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What were one or two of your family’s favorite Christmas traditions when you were young?
  2. Read John 3:16 and James 1:16-17.  Jeff said that what made that first Christmas great to God is what God got to do on that first Christmas.  He gave.  God is a giver, not a taker.
  3. What are some of God’s gifts you are most thankful for?
  4. Read Acts 20:35.  Describe a time you gave a gift that brought you great joy.  What made the experience so memorable?
  5. Jeff explained that Jesus was laying out two ways of going through life: tightly fisted or with open hands.  Describe a situation where your hands were tightly fisted.
  6. Read Luke 19:1-9.  What caused Zacchaeus to transform from hands that were closed to hands that were open?
  7. If open hands were a 10 (giver) and closed hands were a 1 (taker), where would you currently rate yourself on this continuum?
  8. If you lean towards being a giver, what has helped transform you to this way of living?
  9. If you lean more towards being a taker, what one or two actions could you take to get your hand out of the monkey jar?
  10. What one action will you take this week to live with open hands?
