Verve Haps

Momentum is building at Verve (Vervementum?)!

  • The last few months have marked a pretty big milestone from our church. Up until this year, every September our average weekly attendance dropped significantly once football started. But this year our average weekly attendance has actually increased since football began! It's so cool to see people who are new to Verve start to take steps closer to God, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for these folks.
  • This past Sunday and Monday we continued our Giveitudes series by talking about the Giveitude of Investment. At Verve we hardly ever talk about money, and we don't teach that giving money to God will result in a brand new car magically showing up in your driveway, or that you should give millions of dollars. But the Bible has a lot to say about money and its implications for our relationship with God, and in this series we are unpacking those concepts.
  • This week we covered a lot, including the fact that God isn't concerned with the actual dollar amount you give; he's more concerned about our proportional giving, because that indicates how generously we live. So, for example, if a "rich" person gives 1% of their income that totals $500 and a poorer person gives $5 that is equivalent to 10% of their income, God is much more pleased with the person who gave five bucks because it shows that they really are loyal to God. The more we learn to love God, the more natural it will become for our finances to reflect that.
  • It's t-minus one month until Christmas! In the days leading up to Christmas we are offering four identical services across three days. Plan now to attend one, and start inviting your friends!  Here's a rundown of the Christmas service schedule:
    • Sunday, December 22, at 10:05 a.m. (there will be no 11:35 service)
    • Monday, December 23, at 7:05 p.m.
    • Tuesday, December 24, at 5:35 and 7:05 p.m.
