Questions: The Giveitude of Contentment

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we began a new series Givitudes and talked about The Givitude of ContentmentIf you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What are some of the things you desperately wanted growing up?
  2. The Bible talks more about money than just about any other topic. Why do you think God chose to talk so much about money in the Bible?
  3. Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Why do you think our passion increases when we put our money into something? And why do you think not putting our money into something displays a lack of passion for it?
  4. Read Philippians 4:11-12
  5. You desperately wanted some things growing up. What are the things you want now? What are some of the things you assume would make you happier than you are, if you just had them?
  6. How does it make you feel knowing (as Vince mentioned in the message) that wealthy people feel like they don't have enough and want more? Could it help you become more content with what you have? Why or why not?
  7. In what ways do you find yourself falling into the "comparison trap"? What does it do to your heart?
  8. How could you build a discipline into your life of rejoicing in what you do have? What are some of things you would rejoice in?
  9. Vince said that when we're discontent we're really saying, "God, you don't care about me." Do you agree, or disagree, with that? Why?
  10. When will God be enough for you? What can you do to help you get from here to there?
  11. Accountability Question:  How have you allowed God to love me just the way you are, and how have you allowed Him to show you where He loves you too much to leave you that way?
  12. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
