Verve Haps

September went out with a bang at Verve this past weekend!
  • Continued our I Want A Movie Life series by talking about The Great Gatsby. Based on a classic book by the same title, this movie chronicles the vain efforts of wealthy individuals to find fulfillment. They look for fulfillment in acquiring possessions, gaining the affection of another person, and other "achievements" that they believe will fully satisfy them. However, after each endeavor they are left feeling empty.
  • There is a certain longing inside of all of us that only God can fulfill. We looked at a few examples of modern-day celebrities who still feel empty despite all of their success, and we looked at examples of people in the Bible who "had it all" but still felt like something was missing. If you can relate, the next step in your spiritual journey may involve connecting with God. Maybe you could start reading the Bible, or commit to come to church for a few weeks, or ask him to show you that he's real.
  • On Thursday more than 20 middle and high school students showed up for the first night of our weekly student ministry. It was a blast; looking forward to doing it again this Thursday! If you're in junior high or high school, come check it out at 6:35 p.m. at Verve.
