Questions: Wreck-It Ralph

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we were in our I Want a Movie Life series and talked about the movie Wreck-It Ralph. If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What is your favorite all-time arcade/video game?
  2. In Wreck It Ralph, Ralph wants to change, he wants to stop being bad. The way he thinks he has to do it is by "earning" it. How do you see this need to "earn it" in your life?
  3. Read Ephesians 2:1-9
  4. This passage makes it clear that the way to be right with God and change your life is not by earning it through good works. Why do you think God is so opposed to us earning our way with him through good works?
  5. Vince said that trying to be good enough for God is actually a way of rejecting God. Why do you think this is true?
  6. Ephesians 2 says because of his love for us, God saved us through his grace. Grace means to get the opposite of what you deserve. Why do you think God's unconditional love and grace is the best way for us to become right with him and allow him to change our lives?
  7. Verse 8 says we are saved by grace (opposite of what we deserved) and through faith (putting our trust in Jesus and giving our lives to him). God offers "salvation" (a relationship with him that changes us from the inside out and eventually gets us into Heaven) by the gift of his unconditional love, and the way we accept the gift is through faith. Why do you think God made faith the key to accepting his free gift of salvation?
  8. How have you experienced all this (God's unconditonal love, grace offer, faith, salvation, life change) so far?
  9. Accountability Question:  How have I allowed God and a few friends to see and deal with my hurts and hang-ups this week?
  10. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
