Questions: Sittin' On The Dock

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we launched The River: Flowing With God's Will For Your Life series and talked about the movie Sittin' On The Dock. If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. What is a question about (or decision for) your life that you've been wondering about a lot, or perhaps even recently?
  2. Read Jeremiah 29:11-14
  3. How does it make you feel to know God has a plan for your life? What confuses you about the fact that God has a plan for your life?
  4. How does it make you feel to know that God's plan is to prosper you, and give you hope and a future? And what confuses you about that?
  5. Read Romans 12:1-2
  6. We learned in the sermon that God's will is more about who we are and how we live than what we do. Does that make sense to you or not? How does it change the way you think about your life and God's involvement in it?
  7. Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
  8. Why do you think being joyful, praying, and giving thanks are essential parts of God's will for your life?
  9. Vince said that God longs for us to desire Him more than His answers. Why do you think the best thing for you is to desire God, rather than God's answers to your questions?
  10. Vince also said that our role is more about following God's will than finding God's will. Think about this: God reveals a lot of his will in the Bible (we are to pray, serve the poor, not complain, share our faith with others, tithe, be content with what we have, etc., etc.). If we are not following the parts of God's will that he's already revealed, why would he reveal more to us? So ... where are you not currently following God's will? What's something you should be doing (or shouldn't be doing) that you aren't doing (or are doing)?
  11. Accountability Question:  How have I been inviting God into all my decisions?
  12. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
