Verve Haps

Labor Day Weekend at Verve was solid!

  • Continued our series called Life in 140 by talking about a really freeing concept: giving your life to God isn't about following a list of rules. Religion tries to force you to follow a path to God that is based on how well you can behave, or how many impressive accomplishments you can achieve. However, God doesn't invite anyone down that path; he invites us to follow a different path, one that leads us closer to him through a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus invites us to give our lives to him so we can become more like him and live a life based on love.
  • We're really fortunate to have a lot of world class musicians who are part of Verve. One of them is Mike Rayburn, who is a very creative guitar player. Since this Life in 140 series is built around the concept of Twitter, in each service Mike performed a song about Twitter he wrote just for Verve. It was hysterical; if you missed it, make sure you watch this week's service online.
  • Preparations for our Back-to-School Bash are in high gear! If you're a middle school or high school student, plan now to be at Verve from 6:35 to 9:00PM on Friday, September 13. We're throwing a big party that will feature a massive inflatable obstacle course, live music, food, and all kinds of games. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends who don't go to church to check out Verve.
