Questions: Signs

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week we did a special theme: SignsIf you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. Vince talked about the typical kinds of signs you might "see" in churches, like, "Who are you and what are you doing here?!" or "Go home and change your clothes!" or "Your money matters to us!" What are some signs you've sensed in churches you've been to in the past? How did it make you feel?
  2. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will you rest." And in Revelation 22:17, Jesus says, "Come! Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life."
  3. What kind of "sign" does Jesus seem to be putting up for his "church"?
  4. Why do you think Jesus wanted everyone to come?
  5. Vince said one of Verve's signs is, "Come as you are." How can you help some people who don't go to church to understand that they can come as they are to Verve, and how could you help them to actually show up and check our church out?
  6. Vince also talked about another of Verve's signs being "Grace happens" and explained that Jesus hung out with the worst of sinners, and was always offering people a second chance. How has this idea of grace (being offered the opposite of what you deserve) impacted your life?
  7. At Verve we say we're "grace wholesalers" - so not only do we receive God's grace, but we also offer it (in bulk) to others. What are some ways you could be a grace wholesaler this week?
  8. The last sign Vince mentioned is "You matter to God." What do you think makes it difficult to really grasp how much you matter and how loved you are by God? What helps you to believe that?
  9. How can you help some people who don't really know God know that they matter to him?
  10. Accountability Question:  Who have I invited to church this week?
  11. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?)
