Verve Haps

This past weekend at Verve was pretty great:

  • Started a new series called Letters, in which we're going to figure out how we can make the most out of our relationships with the people closest to us. When you write someone a letter, you usually say things you wouldn't say in person; things that are deeper and reveal more about the kind of relationship you have with that person. Thinking through important relationships through the lens of a letter can allow us to maximize our relationships with those people and bring them along on our spiritual journey.
  • We kicked off the series this week by talking about what it may look like if you wrote a letter to one of your close friends. Specifically, we looked at three kinds of letters you may need to write to a friend, such a letter of partnership -- that is, to reach out to them and ask for them to be a bigger part of your life, and for you to be a bigger part of theirs. God intended for us to do life with other people, and everyone wins when we have fellow people alongside us on our journey.
  • To help set the stage for talking about friends, we presented the Top Ten Signs You Have No Friends. If you couldn't make it to Verve you'll have to watch online this week to catch them all, but here's a taste: "#5: You are one of the five best solitaire players in the world."
  • Trash talk about our upcoming kickball game is starting to heat up. If you're in Vegas, come out to Desert Bloom Park at 10:00AM on May 18 for the most ferocious game of kickball our church has ever seen. No need to sign up or anything; just make sure you bring your game face.
