Questions: The Testimony About Jesus

We provide questions each week based on the theme of our service for our Micro Groups to use. If you're not in a Verve Micro Group, feel free to use them on your own.

This week our series was Verdict and our message was "The Testimony About Jesus". If you missed it, you can listen to it here.
  1. If there is one thing you could know in advance, what would you want it to be?  Future stock prices?  Who is going to win the World Series?  The day you’re going to die?  Something else?
  2. Read Luke 23:26-49 and Psalm 22
  3. In the Old Testament there are about fifty major “Messianic Prophecies.”  These were passages written hundreds of years before Jesus showed up on the scene, but which clearly lay out who He would be and what He would do.  God gave us these prophecies to help us identify the Savior He would send, and to authenticate identity as the promised Messiah.
  4. Let’s go through Psalm 22 and find as many fulfilled prophecies (from Luke 23) that we can…
  5. For each of these prophecies, let’s talk about how Jesus fulfilled it, and how it makes you feel to realize these predictions were written hundreds of years earlier?
  6. Of all these prophecies, which is the most startling to you?  Why?
  7. What are some of the different reasons God might have put all these prophecies in the Old Testament?  Why was it so important to Him to specifically give the details of Jesus’ life before Jesus even arrived on the scene?
  8. How do reading the amazingly specific prophecies from Psalm 22 that Jesus fulfilled help to validate the credibility of Jesus’ claim to be God’s promised Savior?   (b) How does it strengthen your faith?   (c) How does it inspire and equip you to share your faith?
  9. Accountability Question:  Who have you invited to church this week?
  10. Prayer Question:  What could we be praying for you this week? (Is this there something good we could celebrate with you, or a challenge you need God's help with?
